A representative for the studio behind Jennifer Lawrence's new movie Joy has dismissed rumours of trouble on set after reports suggested the actress had fallen out with director David O. Russell.

The Oscar-winner is currently filming her third movie with longtime collaborators O. Russell and Bradley Cooper in Boston, Massachusetts, but the shoot is rumoured to have been marred by arguments between the filmmaker and his leading actress.

Reports suggested the pair became involved in a loud bust-up on the set on Tuesday (24Feb15), but a representative for the studio behind the movie, Fox 2000, has told Tmz.com the argument was simply a method acting trick to prepare Lawrence for an emotional scene.

The film, in which Lawrence plays a struggling single mother, is due for release later this year (15).
