Jennifer Lawrence has laughed off the coverage of her recent trip to hospital after reports suggested she had gone to the emergency room with a bout of bad gas.

The Hunger Games star revealed earlier this week (begs18Nov13) that she had cancelled several public appearances to seek out medical advice after suffering severe stomach pains for several weeks.

Speaking on The Late Show with David Letterman, she revealed, "I thought I had an ulcer, but it turns out it was a 'fulcer'. I went to the emergency room... I just had this really bad pain for, like, three weeks."

Lawrence offered no further details of her condition but admits she found it hilarious that her hospital trip was reported as being down to trapped wind.

She tells U.S. show Good Morning America, "Now it's reported in the news that I went to the emergency room for gas, which is awesome. I was like, 'I don't even want to like (deny that). Let's confirm that."

The Oscar winner is still awaiting word back from her doctors on what caused the pains: "They're saying it could either be in my lower intestine or all in my mind. I'm going to cross my fingers for it's all in my mind and I'm just crazy."
