Jennifer Lawrence talked to Seventeen magazine recently about her starring role in the next big franchise, The Hunger Games. The film sees two teens, Katniss Everdeen (played by Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), pitted against twenty two other teenagers in a fight to the death, which is then shown on live television to an audience of millions.
In addition, there is also a love triangle between Katniss; Peeta and Katniss' best friend, Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth). When asked by Seventeen if she was Team Peeta or Team Gale, Lawrence replied: 'I think I was Gale, until he started getting a little too trigger-happy...or maybe first Peeta and then Gale, or Gale then Peeta? I went back and forth a lot!'
Lawrence also discussed the similarities that The Hunger Games has with reality TV; in particular, shows about extreme sports. 'The Hunger Games is not that far off from real life. We are living in a world where we watch extreme sports shows where people get hurt or killed. It takes a lot to shock us.'
In an interview with Elle magazine in 2011, Lawrence spoke out about dieting. She revealed how she ate a 'Philly cheesesteak' minutes before walking the red carpet, despite protests to 'get a salad.' She also admitted to dieting for her role as Mystique in the 2011 film X-Men: First Class; albeit a high in protein diet that allowed her to keep her curves. Lawrence said: 'I knew that if I was going to be naked in front of the world, I wanted to look like a woman and not a prepubescent 13-year-old boy. I'm so sick of people thinking that's what we're supposed to look like.'
The Hunger Games boasts an all-star cast: Elizabeth Banks; Lenny Kravitz and Donald Sutherland star as Effie Trinket; Cinna and President Snow respectively. The film is set to open in the UK on March 23rd, 2012. In the US, the cast of the film are touring shopping malls before the film opens on the same day.
