Jennifer Hudson's family is once again at the centre of a violent attack. The singer/actress's half-brother Stephen Angelo Simpson was reportedly arrested on Tuesday (Aug 19th) for stabbing a man several times on Monday night.

The horrific incident occurred in Van Buren County, Mich., after Simpson was looking for his estranged wife at her apartment, but ran into her current boyfriend. After knocking down the door, Simpson began stabbing the victim, identified as Charlie, in the chest and face, reports local CBS affiliate WWMT.

His estranged wife and Charlie then fled to one of their neighbours looking for help. Torrey Hunt saw the couple race to his home around 3 a.m., and told the news channel, "He said someone knocked on the door, he thought he was knocking on the door for somebody, and he started getting stabbed up, I open the door and see blood everywhere. He was stabbed in his chin and his chest, he had puncture wounds in his chest and his arms and stuff."

Shortly after, the victim was rushed to a nearby medical centre and received 20 to 30 stiches before being released, fortunately he is expected to make a full recovery.

Detective Adam DeBoer said that they are still unsure who Simpson's intended target was, but revealed his wife "locked herself in the bathroom until he left. It appears to be an ongoing feud over a woman."

This isn't Simpson's first run-in with the law, and he is no stranger to violence either. The culprit has been arrested several times before, and he is currently on probation. Most recently, Simpson was taken into custody for assaulting his wife on Super Bowl Sunday back in February.
