Singer/actress Jennifer Hudson refused to visit the grave sites of her slain mother, brother, and nephew in Chicago, Illinois until justice was served and their killer was sentenced to prison.
Hudson's estranged brother-in-law William Balfour was sentenced to life behind bars in July (12) after he was convicted of breaking into the family's home in 2008 and murdering Hudson's mum Darnell Donerson, her brother Jason Hudson, and seven-year-old nephew Julian King, who was found shot dead in the back of an abandoned Suv (Sports Utility Vehicle) three days later.
Four years have passed since the tragedy, and the Dreamgirls star reveals she is finally planning a visit to the cemetery where her relatives were laid to rest after sitting through a long, drawn-out court hearing, which ended with her former brother-in-law's conviction.
During an interview on U.S. chat show Oprah's Next Chapter, which aired in America on Sunday (09Sep12), she said, "I haven't been to the grave site since we buried them. But now I want to go, because I feel like, 'OK, we've accomplished this, we've done this, we got justice for you, I can't come back here empty-handed. So I came back with justice being served.'
"So now I feel like I deserve to be able to see them."
