Living in a luxury city apartment, Tom isn't often found with his family but as it's Rebecca's birthday, he knows that he can't miss it. With no gift to give his daughter and knowing that he's spent such little time with her recently, Tom decides to stop off and get her a gift that's sure to make her happy - something she's asked for for years. A cat.

The store where Tom picks up the cat (called Mr. Fuzzypants) is run by an eccentric man called Felix Perkins and as soon as Mr Perkins and the newest member of the Brand family become part of Tom's life, odd things start to happen. Soon Tom's life is turned upside down and he's experiencing family life in a way that he - nor anyone else - has ever experienced before.

MPTF's Night Before The Oscars Pulling Out Of Partnership With Beverly Hills Hotel

In recent years, besides the glamour, celebrities and red carpet fashion at the Oscars, the show’s ethics have also been put into the spotlight. This year, The Night Before The Oscars, the biggest charity event related to the ceremony, has pulled out of the Beverly Hills Hotel because the venue is owned by the Sultan of Brunei. The event is being held by the Motion Picture And Television Fund, and the decision to stop collaborating with the hotel comes directly from the organization. The charity event does not want to appear to support or endorse the Sultan’s recently instated anti-LGBT penal code, based on Sharia law.

Supporters of the event include Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Officials from MPTF, have met with executives from both the hotel and the Dorchester Collection, owner of the Beverly Hills Hotel, to inform them of the decision, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Night Before party, which draws Hollywood’s biggest stars and every top executive in town, has been held at the Beverly Hills Hotel since its inauguration in 2003. It was originally started by Dreamworks’ CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and has since raised over $60 million since its beginning. The party is regularly attended and supported by A-list talent – the 2013 committee, for example, included Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, Camila and Matthew Mcconaughey, Jamie Foxx, Sandra Bullock and Octavia Spencer.

For Ben Affleck, The Road To Batman Was Long And Winding

Ben Affleck has been handed the keys to the Batmobile, picking up the torch from the excellent Christain Bale to portray Gotham’s troubled hero. At 41-years of age, the road to one of Hollywood’s most prestigious roles – made so by director Christopher Nolan and Bale – hasn’t been a smooth one for Affleck, who endured his fair share of bumps and crashes along the way.

"We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics' most enduringly popular super heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill and then some," Warner Bros President Greg Silverman said in a statement. "(Affleck) has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne," said Snyder. "I can't wait to work with him. (BBC)

Halle Berry Continues War Against Paparazzi (This Time, With Added Jennifer Garner)

Jennifer Garner Halle Berry Ben Affleck

Oscar winner Halle Berry isn't ready to back down in her war against the paparazzi, turning up to speak in front of a panel of legislators in Sacramento, California this week. The actress has long campaigned to shackle the paparazzi, though this time she brought reinforcements in the form of Jennifer Garner - the Hollywood actress and wife of Ben Affleck.

The two women testified before the Assembly Judiciary Committee in support of a bill that its supporters say would protect celebrities from harassment by photographers, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

"We're moms here who are just trying to protect our children," said Berry, who has several run-ins with the paparazzi over the past year. She was also caught up in a very public confrontation involving her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry and fiancé, now husband, Olivier Martinez, "These are little innocent children who didn't ask to be celebrities. They didn't ask to be thrown into this game and they don't have the wherewithal to process what's happening. We don't have a law in place to protect them from this," she added.

Ben Affleck and Lena Dunham were the big winners at the Directors Guild of America Awards last night (February 3, 2013)

Ben Affleck continued his winter dominance of awards season at the Directors Guild Of America Awards on Saturday (February 2nd) as he picked up the event's top prize to further cement his film Argo's reckoning as the favorite for the much-coveted best picture prize at the Oscars this month (February 24, 2013). Affleck has been on an absolute sweep since the disappointment of missing out on the shortlist for the Oscars best director category; Argo has won the best picture at the Producers Guild of America Awards, best picture at the Critics Choice Awards and best picture at the Golden Globes. Affleck himself meanwhile has picked up a couple of best director gongs at the Critics Choic and the Golden Globes.

Jennifer Lawrence, SAG AwardsDespite A Wardrobe Malfunction, Jennifer Lawrence Looked Stunning At The SAG Awards

It was Ben Affleck and Argo who stole the headlines after the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Santa Monica this weekend, with the Iranian hostage movie taking the evening's top award. The SAG's are usually more casual than the Academy Awards though are generally considered a trial run for the Oscars, perhaps more so than the Golden Globes. Should the SAGs predict the winners on February 24, 2013, then Argo, Daniel Day-Lewis and Jennifer Lawrence will be among the triumphant nominees.

Anyway, let's not concern ourselves with awards, because the Screen Actors Guild Awards attracted a fine flurry of stylish dresses and elegant gowns. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how nasty you are) most of the movie stars got it right with their ensembles, with Marion Cotillard, Kerry Washington, Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence making it a successful night for the big-hitters. The latter suffered a minor wardrobe malfunction when taking to the stage to collect her award, though her Dior gown was one of the evening's showstoppers.

How 'Argo' Made Ben Affleck The Toast Of Hollywood

Ben Affleck Jennifer Garner Jennifer Lopez

Ben Affleck. Now here's a man with an odd career in the movie business. After arriving on the scene in 1997 with Good Will Hunting (still considered by many to be his best movie, and a film he also co-wrote), the 40-year-old followed it up with solid turns in Armageddon, Shakespeare in Love and the superb Dogma.

Then things went a little awry. Affleck entered alcohol rehabilitation in 2001 and began dating Latin superstar Jennifer Lopez one year later. It was around this time that Affleck - tipped as a multiple Oscar winner - agreed to roles in the likes of Pearl Habor, Daddy and Them and Jersey Girl. He split with Lopez just days before their planned wedding and the negative press meant his movie 'Gigli' was a huge box-office failure. However, after striking up a relationship with Jennifer Garner (to whom he is now happily married), Affleck appeared to find the confidence to begin writing and directing serious, hard-hitting roles, and his turns in The Company Men and most recently The Town were critically acclaimed. Now, he returns with 'Argo', a serious contender for Best Picture at the Oscars in February and the most talked about movie of the awards' season so far. A thriller-cum-comedy about the Iranian hostage crisis of 1979-1981, Affleck had some pretty heavy material to work with though appears to have carried it off with aplomb. Peter Travers of Rolling Stone magazine was effusive in his praise for the flick, writing, "Ben Affleck doesn't merely direct Argo, he directs the hell out of it, nailing the quickening pace, the wayward humor, the nerve-frying suspense. There's no doubt he's crafted one of the best movies of the year."

Though it'll have to beat Spielberg's 'Lincoln' and the Paul Thomas Anderson's 'The Master' to win Best Picture, we think Argo may well be this year's Hurt Locker. Watch it gather pace as the Oscars draws closer.

Ben Affleck's Argo premiered at the AMPAS Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills yesterday evening (October 4th), but even though it was her husband's film, it was Jennifer Garner who was taking all the plaudits after looking stunning when walking down the red carpet. The Daily Mail reports that the 40 year-old mother of three isn't seen as glammed up as she used to be now she's busy looking after her kids, however last night proved that Garner still has the star power when she wishes to use it.

Butter - Trailer Trailer

Laura Pickler is the proud and doting wife of long-time butter carving champion Bob Pickler. When Bob is forced to relinquish his title for that year's butter carving competition (an annual event in their small town in Iowa), Laura determinedly decides to step up and submit her own talents in order to keep the title in the family. However, her confidence is diminished when an unusual opponent also enters the competition. That opponent is 10-year-old adopted girl Destiny who is allowed to participate by her accepting but fairly sceptical foster parents Julie and Ethan. If that wasn't enough to spur Laura's determination then what comes next certainly will be. It is revealed that Bob has become hopelessly infatuated by a gorgeous stripper named Brooke who goes by the stage name of Tokyo Rose and who also happens to be entering the competition in a bid to snatch the butter carving champion title from Laura's reach. While the competition initially was created to represent the excellence in butter, it now becomes about power, politics and sex.

'Butter' is set to become a huge hit with its hilarious all-star cast, ridiculous subject matter and humour that is set to win the hearts of movie lovers everywhere. Directed by Jim Field Smith ('She's Out of My League') and the screenwriting debut of up and coming star Jason A. Video - Jennifer Garner Seen Leaving Taverne In Brentwood After Having Lunch With A Friend

Actress Jennifer Garner (Arthur, Juno, 13 Going On 30) leaves Taverne in Brentwood after having lunch with a friend. Los Angeles, California - 05.06.2011

Arthur Review

OK
In a sea of unnecessary remakes, this rehash of the 1981 comedy seems particularly ill-timed, as it's no longer fun to laugh at irresponsible drunks, especially when they're billionaires. But it's just about watchable.

Pampered rich boy-man Arthur Bach (Brand) has finally pushed his mother (James) too far. Head of a multinational conglomerate, she tells him he'll lose his inheritance if he doesn't marry the shark-like Susan (Garner), daughter of a property tycoon (Nolte). In a perpetual state of womanising drunkenness, Arthur is propped up by the only two people who like him: long-suffering nanny Hobson (Mirren) and patient chauffer Bitterman (Guzman). Then as he agrees to marry Susan, he finds himself falling for quirky tour guide Naomi (Gerwig).

Arthur Bach is a man who's always had everything he wants, from driving around in the Batmobile to his floating bed and music lessons with Kanye West whatever Arthur wants he gets. Many would say, Arthur is a child stuck in a man's body and he would be if it were not for his faithful lifelong carer, Hobson, who's his best friend and perhaps the only one who truly believes in Arthur's potential. There's also Bitterman, Arthur's driver who is his general partner in crime when it comes to getting up to things a billionaire shouldn't be seen doing.

The Invention Of Lying Review

Good
As bright and witty as this film is, it never quite generates enough momentum to be a comedy classic. It feels more like a gently meandering movie version of a high-concept sketch. At least it's peppered with sharp gags.

In an alternate reality in which humanity hasn't developed the ability to lie, Mark (Gervais) is a loser who accidentally discovers dishonesty and quickly realises the power of his words in a world where everyone believes him. Lying his way to fame and wealth is easy, but things start to spiral out of his control when people develop a religion based on his tall tales. And his biggest problem is that he wants Anna (Garner) to fall in love with him. But lying to her would be cheating.

Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past Review

Good
In Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Matthew McConaughey finally plays a character who takes full advantage of the fact that he looks like Matthew McConaughey. True, the handsomely sculpted slacker has played immature Lotharios in the past. But those dudes usually applied their casual charm on one woman (Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker) as they sought a fortune in pirate treasure or superficial fluff of that nature.

Not Connor Mead. McConaughey's latest egocentric womanizer has bedded thousands of girls in the name of casual sex, and they all come back to haunt him on the eve of his kid brother's (Breckin Meyer) wedding in Mark Waters' Ghosts.

Juno Review

Excellent
Ellen Page plays a quirky teenager in Jason Reitman's Juno but she does so in a way I've rarely witnessed before. She's not rebelling from medication like Natalie Portman in Garden State, nor is she just a normal, shy girl who is externally quirky like Tina Majorino in Napoleon Dynamite. Her peculiarities aren't her definition like Ally Sheedy in The Breakfast Club, and she's not flippantly cute and brazenly poetic like Zooey Deschanel in Paul Gordon Green's All the Real Girls. Page's Juno MacGuff certainly has hints of all these characters, but what we witness of her comes from somewhere far off-screen. Remarkably, the world we're watching doesn't revolve around her.

When this Argento-loving firecracker gets knocked up by Paulie Bleeker (the invaluable Michael Cera), her rhythms don't change much; a big cookie consumed simultaneously with a lamb kebob seems like something she'd eat even if her hormones weren't all akimbo. After chatting up an ex-pill popper/current pro-lifer, her attempts to procure an abortion are thwarted by the thought of her baby's tapping fingernails and the sterilized miasma of the clinic's waiting room. Hastily, she opts for an old-fashioned, at-birth adoption with no frills. Her parents, played lovingly by J.K. Simmons and Allison Janney, are concerned but surprisingly level-headed, even if they wished she had just gotten a DUI instead of getting knocked up.

The Kingdom (2007) Review

Weak
Peter Berg's The Kingdom will either rally those in the theater or piss off every single ticket holder in sight. It's gonna be awesome. Indeed, sardonic catcalls of "kill all the towelheads!" were shouted at the press screening I attended while the rest of the theater applauded with rigorous aplomb as Jennifer Garner jammed a knife into a Saudi terrorist's nether regions. This was all preceded by some daft bollock yammering on his cellphone during the opening credits while another patron quietly threatened castration. Only in New York, ladies and gents.

Why will people be so divisive, you ask? Well, in The Kingdom, a compound of Americans in the Saudi Arabia capital of Riyadh are bombed. Subsequently, the reaction team, led by Agent Manner (Kyle Chandler), falls victim to a much larger, hidden bomb that is disguised as an ambulance gurney. Berg employs Jamie Foxx to seduce, threaten, and charm his way into Saudi airspace as Agent Fleury, fighting to get his team of quickdraws into Riyadh to get all forensic with the crime scene. No such luck, Honcho: Seems that the local fuzz won't have any of it and keep a real vice on Fleury and his team's "oo-rah" attitude. That is until Prince Thamer gives tactical command over to the pandering Colonel Faris Al Ghazi (Ashraf Barhom), who sees eye-to-eye with the FBI team and their American-outlaw brand of badassery.

Catch And Release Review

Weak
Susannah Grant's Catch and Release is a nice movie. It tells the story of Gray (Jennifer Garner), a nice woman whose nice fiancée Grady has just died; in the days and weeks following his funeral, she becomes a roommate to his nice best friends (Kevin Smith and Sam Jaeger).

I use the word "nice" because the characters come close to having personalities, but back away politely; their lives are so caught up in this admittedly life-changing event that the outside world doesn't seem to exist. The movie is realistic enough to show Gray moving out of her new house because she can't afford to pay the rent on her own, but not so unsparing that any of the characters, rich or poor, have employment that qualifies as anything other than a mild distraction. For a few movie-days, the free time looks like mourning; an hour in, it begins to resemble, well, one of those movies where no one has a real job.

Dude, Where's My Car? Review

Terrible
I really wanted to like Dude, Where's My Car? After a week of deadlines, dead time, and dead emotions, I needed a goofy movie to revive me.

So, imagine my horror as I sat alone in the cavernous theater, trying to muster a chuckle or a titter. Ornery ostriches didn't do the trick. Neither did a transsexual stripper, a pot-smoking dog or an appearance by Fabio.

13 Going On 30 Review

Very Good
If 13 Going On 30 had feet, they'd never touch the ground. The effervescent retro romance opens with the jingly strokes of an '80s pop synthesizer and races through the best of Rick Springfield ("Jesse's Girl"), Michael Jackson ("Thriller"), and The Go-Go's ("Head Over Heels") in five minutes flat. Either you're tapping your feet right now or running for the hills. The toe-tappers, obviously, will have a better time at this one.

In 1987, gawky teen Jenna can't see the girl-next-door beauty that exists beyond her braces. She keeps best friend Matty - her pudgy and unbearably sweet admirer - at arm's length. After a major disappointment involving a rigged game of "Seven Minutes in Heaven" at her 13th birthday party, Jenna makes a fateful wish to be older. With the help of some potent fairy dust, 13-year-old Jenna becomes 30-year-old Jenna (Garner), a Manhattan magazine editor pushing copy for Poise, a struggling fashion rag.

Catch Me If You Can Review

Very Good
By 1967, Frank Abagnale Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio) had become the youngest con man to make the FBI's "Most Wanted List." He'd cashed millions of dollars in forged checks, posed as a co-pilot for a major airline, landed a job as a surgeon in Atlanta, and passed the bar exam in New Orleans. At the time, he was barely old enough to drive.

So goes Catch Me If You Can, Steven Spielberg's second film of the year after the darker, more imaginative Minority Report. The director's cat-and-mouse game draws from Abagnale's autobiography and begins with the criminal's capture at the hands of FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks). The film then slowly backtracks six years to explain both how and why these two men wound up at this point. Part of it has to do with Frank's father (Christopher Walken), a smooth-as-silk seller with tax troubles. But most of it has to do with Frank's need to test his wits against inferior playmates.

Daredevil Review

Weak
In the Marvel Comics food chain, Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil falls somewhere between the wise-cracking Spider-Man and the washed up Submariner. An underdog hero born of vengeance, Daredevil never achieved the superstar status afforded the Incredible Hulk or the X-Men. Instead, he steadily built a dedicated core of cult fanatics who empathized with the crime fighter and related to his character-driven adventures.

It's those same sympathetic souls who'll most appreciate director Mark Steven Johnson's Daredevil, a lackluster introductory installment that remains faithful to the character's origins but drops the ball whenever the hero dons his fetishistic leather mask.

Washington Square Review

Very Good
Hardly a lush Merchant-Ivory epic, Jennifer Jason Leigh gets dumbed-down and uglified for her treatment in this adaptation of the Henry James novel, about a poor adventurer (Chaplin) who may or may not be after the wallflower's money. Father (Finney) disapproves, to the point where he hauls her off to Europe for a year. By film's end, dad is as stubborn as ever, which actually helps the two would-be lovers see things a bit more clearly. A great twist on the period piece, despite its maudlin sensibilities.

Catch Me If You Can Review

Excellent

Steven Spielberg's best movie in at least a decade, "Catch Me If You Can" is a capricious, invigorating, infectiously jaunty caper about one of the most extraordinary con men in United States history.

In the mid-1960s, Frank Abagnale Jr. passed himself off as an airline pilot and fooled Pan Am, as a doctor and got a job as a Georgia hospital's graveyard-shift emergency room manager, and as a lawyer, becoming an assistant prosecutor in Louisiana under the wing of his unsuspecting fiancée's father.

And when he was finally caught -- after cashing millions of dollars in bogus checks to boot -- Frank Abagnale Jr. was all of 20 years old.

Elektra Review

Bad

Scantily clad action heroine with a sexy-tough pout? Check. Supernatural bad-guy gang of tattooed, Goth-punk clowns? Check. Hard-to-follow kung-fu fight scenes flash-edited to disguise actors' martial arts deficiencies? Check. A complete lack of adherence to its own internal logic? Double-check.

"Elektra" is the latest Marvel Comics superhero flick to roll off the assembly line, and it's such a half-hearted, prefabricated effort that even the normally charismatic Jennifer Garner can't save it.

Reprising her role from 2003's disastrous "Daredevil" adaptation (which she almost did save), Garner plays the title character -- a stereotypically brooding, ninja-trained super-assassin with a conscience who has been brought back from the dead by a generic, mystical army of good that is fighting a generic, mystical army of evil.

Dude, Where's My Car Review

Weak

A funny concept that gets too dumb in too much of a hurry, "Dude, Where's My Car?" is a low-brow comedy about two stoners trying to find one dude's beat-up Yugo the morning after a night of partying so awesome they can't remember a thing about it.

Sweet, dude!

Desperately tying to retrace their steps because they left presents for their bimbo girlfriends in the trunk, the two stoned boneheads discover their previous 12 hours apparently included strippers, jock bullies, getting tattooed, boffing Kristy Swanson ("Big Daddy") in the back seat, and five "extremely hot chicks with large breasts" in leather jump suits who turn out to be aliens looking for something called the Continuum Transponder.

13 Going On 30 Review

Good

Jennifer Garner's chameleonic acting abilities have given veracity and weight to the outlandish goings-on in "Alias," the espionage drama that made her a hot commodity. In the C-grade, three-ring superhero circus of "Daredevil," she acted circles around Ben Affleck and added surprising emotional weight to her kung-fu butt-kicking performance. In just one scene as a come-hither high-priced hooker playing hard to get in "Catch Me If You Can," Garner made herself as memorable as Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.

And now in "13 Going On 30," Garner follows Hanks' career template, proving herself a potential superstar in a magnetically ingenuous performance as Jenna Rink, a frustrated late-'80s 'tweenager who makes a careless wish around some "wishing dust" and wakes up 17 years later in the va-va-voom body and the chaotic career-girl life of herself at age 29.

Yes, it's basically "Big" with boobs (a physical attribute that has pubescent-on-the-inside Jenna Rink just tickled pink) -- and like its opposite-sex predecessor, this movie is fueled by the irresistible exuberance of its star's inner child.
