Fallen actress Jenna Elfman's career has taken another turn for the worse - she has been replaced in Broadway, New York, hit NINE by an understudy.

The former DHARMA AND GREG star was supposed to start a lengthy stint as Jane Krakowski's successor in the TONY-winning musical on 7 October (03), but now the role of movie star CARLA has gone to ALLY McBEAL star Krakowki's understudy SARA GETTELFINGER.

A spokesman for the project claims scheduling conflicts meant Elfman would not have had "a proper preview period" before the stageshow reopened fully on 28 October (03).

Elfman says, "The musical has a very beautiful, complex and challenging score and I want to make sure that I have enough time to prepare so that I can deliver the quality of performance as a professional that I demand of myself.

"Being on Broadway is a dream of mine and if I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it when it's right and I'm ready."

The show's director DAVID LEVEAUX isn't ruling out having Elfman join the cast for a future run.
