Jeniferever Choose a Bright Morning Album

What have Abba, The Concretes and Jeniferever all got in common??, no they haven't all won the Eurovision song thingy, they all hail from Sweden! New act Jeniferever release debut album Choose a Bright Morning on March 13th. Opening track From Across the Sea could easily be mistaken as Snow Patrol, but not as pop sounding, and for all those out there old enough to remember, track 4 A Ghost in the Corner of Your Eye sounds like good old Deacon Blue. An intriguing sound from Martin Sandström, Olle Bilius, Fredrik Aspelin, Kristofer Jönson. It's almost spooky and eerie but not in a scary way. Track 8 Magdeleno is quite different from anything else on the album, its more guitar and electrics influenced. This sound is difficult to describe, but although the opening track sounds like snow patrol and another sounds like deacon blue, the rest sounds nothing like these two artists. Its slightly sigur ros but again not identical to them, it's a bit coldplay, in fact it's a bit of everyone. This album is easy on the ears and doesn't require any thought or concentration, its not catchy or energetic, but almost relaxing. Best tracks on the album are definitely From Across the Sea and the Sound of Beating Wings. Weakest track for me is Magdeleno, purely because it almost sounds out of place with the rest of the tracks, although it is by no means a bad song. An interesting album, which I think will get better with each listen. Perhaps not as strong a sound as Sigur Ros and Coldplay but could still be potential competition.
