The actor was the surprise winner of the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series trophy for his part in The Newsroom, beating out competition from strong contenders like Jon Hamm, Bryan Cranston, Kevin Spacey, Damian Lewis and Hugh Bonneville.
But Daniels couldn't stay out too late partying in Hollywood as he had to be in Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday morning (23Sep13) to start shooting Dumb And Dumber To.
Daniels is reprising his role as hapless Harry Dunne in the follow-up to the hit 1994 comedy, and he promises fans his onscreen reunion with his co-star Jim Carrey will be worth the wait - even though he faces a shock to the system after playing cerebral newsman Will MCAvoy on The Newsroom.
He says, "The intellectual free fall from Will MCAvoy down to Harry Dunne is going to be jarring! There are some things that we're going to do in Dumb and Dumber To that make the toilet scene (in the first film) seem lame. (It) pales in comparison and I can't divulge what, but just that they've topped it. They best thing about it? I get to work with a comedic genius."
