Jeff Bridges struggled to come to terms with the death of his mother DOROTHY last year (09) - because the loss reminded him of his own mortality.
The Crazy Heart star lost his actress mother in 2009 and the tragedy forced him to re-evaluate his life.
He tells Britain's Esquire magazine, "My own mortality really came to the surface (after Dorothy's death). 'Cause it lets you know, 'You're up next buddy.' You go, 'Holy s**t! I've just turned 60!' and a lot of stuff surfaced, almost diametrically opposed stuff.
"On one side, I can hear myself saying, 'If you want to do some s**t, better do it now, because the party's over pretty soon, man. You want to do the music thing? Do it! You want to make a difference towards ending hunger? Now is the time.'
"Now the other side of me is saying, 'Will you f**king relax? You don't have to do anything - just relax and enjoy your life, man. You want to feel like for the rest of your life you're on some terrible homework assignment?'"
