Jean-Claude Van Damme is facing a lawsuit after he allegedly agreed to promote a home gym system and then slated the equipment on TV.
Bosses at marketing company Thane International are suing Van Damme over claims he signed up to film an infomercial for the Total Flex gym but reneged on the deal when it came time to film the advertisement in February (11).
A suit filed in Los Angeles on Monday (16May11) accuses the star of not knowing his lines and failing to practice with the exercise unit beforehand.
The Bloodsport star is said to have refused to go through with the filming, and later discussed the machine on his own 2011 U.K. documentary show, Jean-Claude Van Damme: Behind Closed Doors, insisting he would never endorse an item he didn't like.
Now Thane International executives are suing for compensatory damages, plus interest, legal fees and punitive damages.
