Retired rapper Jay-Z's efforts to countersue his former pal R Kelly have been thrown out of court.

A Manhattan Supreme Court judge dismissed Jay-Z's lawsuit against his BEST OF BOTH WORLDS tour partner.

Kelly had already filed a $75 million (GBP39.5 million) lawsuit against Jay, his business associates and promoters after he was removed from the tour following a backstage scuffle last October (04), which resulted in the R+B star being sprayed in the face with pepper spray.

Then, in January (05), Jay-Z slapped Kelly with a countersuit, claiming the tour's promoter was forced to dump the singer because he was "unsafe" and "unpredictable".

Kelly's lawyer EDWARD HAYES called JUDGE CHARLES RAMOS' decision to dismiss Jay-Z's suit yesterday (16MAY05) "a terrific victory" for his client.
