Jay Z has formed an unlikely collaboration with the Chelsea football star Ashley Cole that will see the pair open an exclusive new restaurant in London next year. Jay Z, a multi-millionaire businessman who already owns the upscale '40/40 Club' bars in New York, Atlantic City and Chicago, discussed the venture with Cole in Manhattan last week, according to the UK's Sun newspaper.
Cole is not the first British footballer to enter into the restaurant business - his England team-mate Rio Ferdinand already enjoys success with his 'Rosso' eatery in Manchester. The Chelsea left-back is looking to follow Jamie Oliver's business model of helping underprivileged men and women into full time employment. Cole said, "It is really exciting to be working with a star like Jay Z. And the fact we can help unemployed people by training them up and putting them to work at a top place while also helping charities makes it a great project". Further details of the restaurant are yet to be announced, but it is thought that a portion of the profits from the venture will be donated to charity each month.
Jay Z recently invested in the Buffalo Boss restaurant in Downtown Brooklyn. He also owns the Rocawear clothing brand, is part-owner of the New Jersey Nets Nba team and is the founder of entertainment company Roc Nation.
