Asian sensation Jay Sean releases his solo album that makes attempts at MCing and singing. He’s already had success with his single ‘Eyes On You’ and he’s making a good impression with the media.
This is quite a feat. As he mentions on a few occasions in this album he’s breaking barriers being Asian and making pop songs that
include sounds from Sean’s cultural background and with potential mass appeal. He certainly can sing and has real honesty in his expression. He’s a soulful guy and his lyrics focus on love, loss and soul thought that is explained in a nice and easy way. Richi Rich is providing the music that focuses on bangra beats and r’n’b sounds.
This album is progressive in that it shows a fusion of Asian sounds with r’n’b and pop music. It makes for a sweet and nice sound. It could be sickly sweet for some however. I think younger audiences will like this album as it easy to digest and non-offensive and I’m sure it will get the backing of Sean’s community. Respect to Sean for competing with the establishment and putting himself out there. He can sing well but his MCing is average.
