Jeff Zucker may now be experiencing some of the same sort of pressure that doubtlessly overwhelmed him when, as CEO of NBC, he presided over the Jay Leno/Conan O'Brien Tonight show fiasco in 2009. Zucker had originally built his reputation as the producer of NBC's successful morning show, Today, and when he took over the reins at CNN this year, his first order of business was to revamp the cable news network's morning programming. So far, things have not worked out any better than they did during the Jay-to-Conan transition. Last Friday, according to Nielsen Research, ratings for the morning show, now titled New Day, fell to an all-time low, with just 50,000 viewers in the key 25-54 age group tuning in. Things weren't much better in primetime, either, which averaged 81,000 viewers for the night, dropping to a low of 57,000 to a 10:00 p.m. special: Prince William's Passion: New Father, New Hope.
