Jason Segel was only handed a role in new film I LOVE YOU, MAN because director Judd Apatow felt guilty for urging him to drop out of school.
Segel cast aside his dreams of a university education after Apatow picked him to star in the 1999 U.S. sitcom Freaks and Geeks, alongside funnyman Seth Rogen.
But the show flopped after just 12 episodes had aired, and Segel insists his pal Apatow has been desperate to get him more work ever since.
Segel says, "He's been incredibly loyal and has helped us out. I think he had some since of obligation because a bunch of us dropped out of high school and didn't go to college to do Freaks and Geeks, which got cancelled after two months."
