The American Country Awards held their annual bash on Monday evening (December 5, 2011) with Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood taking the plaudits at the star-studded event. Truly, the music award calendar is in full swing now with the Country Music Association Awards taking place last month as well as the MTV Ema Awards in Belfast and the nominees announced last week for February's Grammy Awards.
Mtv reports that it was Aldean's night with the 34 year-old taking away a whopping six awards including the much coveted Artist Of The Year, with other key wins coming in the Album Of The Year category - for 'My Kind Of Party' - Touring Artist Of The Year and Single Of The Year By A Male Artist, among others. It gave the star a phenomenal 75 per cent success rate in the categories he was nominated in having been put up for a massive eight gongs. Former 'American Idol' winner Carrie Underwood has got used to being the star of the show in recent years and still managed to share most of the limelight with her male counterpart as she walked off with Female Artist Of The Year, Video Of The Year and Single Of The Year By A Female Artist.
The awards will come as some consolation to Underwood who found herself beaten out of most of the top awards at last month's Country Music Association bash as she had to watch Taylor Swift take Entertainer Of The Year and Miranda Lambert take Female Vocalist Of The Year.
