Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker has been hired as the editor-at-large at a U.K. publishing company.
The rocker will join the Faber & Faber team in a "broad commissioning" capacity and begin his two-year role in January (12).
Cocker tells Bbc News, "(I am) proud, and more than a little excited. It is my dearest hope that we will produce some fantastic books together."
And publishing director Lee Brackstone admits the organisation is thrilled to include the singer among its staff, adding, "Jarvis felt like a natural fit with the Faber sensibility, both as author and editor. I'm sure the small list of books he will develop will represent his eccentric and yet popular touch."
The star's first book, Mother, Brother, Lover: Selected Lyrics, will be released by Faber & Faber next week (begs17Oct11).
