This year's Oscars were the most 'selfied' yet as the stars shared their pics with the world.
One way to view the Academy Awards last night was through the eyes of the stars themselves, as many of them took to Instagram and Twitter to keep us up to date with their Oscar night happenings.
Some stars started their picture taking before they even got to the ceremony, like Joseph Gordon-Levitt who tweeted a pic of himself literally on his way to the awards, taking a selfie in his limousine. Joseph later shared a picture of himself and co-presenter Emma Watson having fun pulling some faces backstage.
Jared Leto also started early taking a snaps with his brother Shannon, with the caption ‘Me and @shannonleto on our way! #oscars’. Also before the ceremony we good a look at Lupita Nyong’o ring for the evening that she posted on Instagram. It seems Jared Leto really wanted to remember all of the nights proceedings as he also shared a pic of his personalised Oscar’s programme and later on in the night he joined fellow ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ winner Matthew McConaughey.
Performer Pharrell also gave us a peek into his pre-Oscar preparations as he shared a picture of himself in the barber’s chair before the event. He also later posted a picture alongside his choreographer, captioned ‘thank you @fatima_noir. Excited for the world to see your amazing choreography for Happy on the #Oscars stage. You are a master” A bit of behind the scenes access was given by Samuel L. Jackson who took a selfie during rehearsals writing, , "Down at the Academy Award rehearsal. Always fun watching the actors who get to pretend that they Won!” The day before he had taken a selfie with Lupita Nyong’o and last night was the turn of screen legend Liza Minelli to get in a picture with Jackson.
Some of the red carpet presenters also gave us a look behind the scenes, CNN’s Coco Rocha: gave a great view of the red carpet from her booth and E!s Kelly Osbourne was also snap happy throughout the night, speaking of Kelly she perhaps gave us the best post Oscars pic when she ended her feud with Lady Gaga with a pic of herself pretend strangling the singer.
Of course host Ellen Degeneres wasn't going to let us down with her Instagram pictures on the night. She started early with a token getting ready pic, where she was wearing a ‘happy’ hood. Then later a snap of her near Jennifer Lawrence popped up hilariously captioned ‘a rare photo of Jennifer Lawrence standing up.’ Then came the moment that crashed twitter, the epic selfie that saw a veritable 'guess who board' of famous faces. Jared Leto, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie could all be seen in the snap - as well as Lupita Nyong’o and her opportunistic brother Peter. The picture was uploaded with the caption, ‘if only Bradley’s arm was longer,’ and had over 1 million retweets in less than an hour. Wow.
The Academy’s official Instagram also did the job. They had pics of Jennifer Lawrence having a love in with best actor winner Matthew McConaughey, plenty of Lupita looking proud with her statue as well as a peek of what the winner’s envelope looks like up close. However they were left red faced earlier on when they mistakenly captioned Penelope Cruz as Salma Hayek.
One thing's for sure this year's Oscars will be remembered as the most social media lead yet, proving that even Hollywood's finest can't resist a little selfie action on their big night out.
