Janet Jackson's songwriter ex-husband Rene Elizondo, JR. has been hit with a demand for allegedly unpaid taxes.
Tax officials for the state of California are chasing Elizondo, Jr. for more than $40,000, according to the Detroit News' Tax Watchdog.
A $44,217 (£27,635) tax lien was filed against Elizondo, Jr. with the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds on 10 November (11).
Elizondo, Jr. was secretly married to Jackson from 1991 until they divorced in 2000.
He directed music videos for the singer's tracks, including That's the Way Love Goes and Again, and is also credited as a songwriter on her album The Velvet Rope.
