Oscar winner Jamie Foxx has developed a new respect for America's Marines after training with them to prepare for new Gulf War drama JARHEAD.
The RAY star, who plays a hardcore sergeant in the new film, admits he had very little concept of just how harrowing a warzone situation can be - until he hooked up with real troops in bootcamp before filming started.
He says, "When you think about what these troops are going through and you get a chance to meet these guys... I mean, we're sitting there shooting blanks and we've got stuff in our ears and one time the guy said, 'Shoot the gun without the blanks and then imagine someone trying to kill you.'
"When you think about that, you really think about what the troops are going through. Peace out to all those guys out there who are putting their lives on the line."
