The first images of the upcoming adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey have been released. The simplistic yet stylish image shows Jamie Dornan in his Christian Grey suit staring out at the Seattle skyline. Above is the caption 'Mr. Grey will see you now." Below is the detail fans have been anxious about, when the film will be released: 14th February 2015.
Jamie Dornan plays Christian Grey.
That's Valentine's Day in case anyone needed clarification. It's difficult to consider the excessively controlling and fairly disturbing, Christian Grey a romantic character, but each to their own. Nevertheless, if the producers of the films consider sex contracts and women gaining promotions through their sexual conduct then so be it - we live in a sad and twisted world.
The upcoming trilogy will star British actor Jamie Dornan (Once Upon A Time) as Christian Grey whilst Dakota Johnson takes the role of Grey's paramour Anastasia Steele. Jennifer Ehle (Pride and Prejudice) plays Anastasia's mother, Carla May Wilks, and Callum Keith Rennie (Californication) acts as her husband, Ray Steele. Anastasia's friend, Kate, is played by Eloise Mumford (The River). The acting half of Grey's family is slightly more star studded with Rita Ora taking the role of his sister Mia and Luke Grimes (Taken 2) as his brother Elliott.
For such a high profile film is seems bizarre that the cast is relatively unknown. Yet this may be exactly the reason why many better known actors (Ryan Gosling was the inspiration for Grey but apparently turned down the role) are not involved. Charlie Hunnam, who was initially cast as Grey, cited this as his reason for dropping out of the production.
Dakota Johnson stars as Anastasia Steele.
