Hunnam was initially tipped to play the lead in 'Fifty Shades of Grey', but turned it down for reasons that were unspecified at the time.
Fans were left disappointed when Charlie Hunnam turned down the role of Christian Grey in the recent blockbuster adaptation of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, and it turns out the star himself was similarly crestfallen. He’s opened up in a new interview that the decision was “heartbreaking”, but one that he was forced into because of prior commitments.
At the time of the announcement, some speculated that the British actor had been intimidated by the very physical sexual content of the movie, but the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ star revealed to V Man magazine about the real reason why he backed out of the extremely lucrative project. It turns out that he had already committed to another project with his friend Guillermo Del Toro [Crimson Peak], and didn’t want to let him down by accepting two jobs at the same time.

After battling Batman will Henry Cavill’s next role be opposite Christian Grey?
He’s about to return to our screens as Superman in the upcoming Dawn of Justice, but the current Man of Steel Henry Cavill is rumoured to have signed on to another big franchise, but this one’s a lot kinkier. The British hunk is said to have joined the cast of sequel Fifty Shades Darker, playing Anastasia Steele’s sexy boss Jack Hyde.
Will Henry Cavil be starring in Fifty Shades Darker?
But while nothing’s been confirmed, Cavill didn’t do much to put an end to the rumours during a recent interview with E! When asked if he really had signed up for Fifty Shades Darker the actor replied, "Basically, what I can say is I can't say anything about it right now.”

At the stroke of midnight, ‘Grey’ hits bookshelves and fans can’t wait.
Fifty Shades of Grey fans might need some help restraining themselves tonight, as E.L. James’ latest book Grey hits shelves at midnight. The spin-off book is a retelling of Christian and Anastasia Steele’s early story, but this time we're hearing it from the point of view of Mr. Grey himself.
Get ready to hear the story of Fifty Shades of Grey from Christian’s perspective.
"The book is written from Christian's point of view, need I say more?” Paul Bogaards, a spokesman for publisher Penguin Random House told the New York Daily News. Bogaards added that he had ‘no concerns’ over wether retelling the story from Christian’s perspective might prove to be too raunchy even for Fifty Shades fans.
The new novel is released next Thursday (June 18th), but a copy of it has gone missing, leading to fears of leaks.
A copy of the eagerly awaited new Fifty Shades of Grey book by E.L. James has been stolen, a little over a week before its scheduled publication date.
Publishers Random House discovered on Monday (June 8th) that one copy of the new book, entitled Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey As Told by Christian, had gone missing from its warehouse. Kent Police has launched an investigation into the incident, as it is feared that thieves may leak the novel or sell extracts to the media.

Rasuk, who played Anastasia's friend Jose Rodriguez in the first movie, is hopeful of being asked to play his role again in the sequels even though Sam Taylor-Johnson won't be directing them.
Fifty Shades of Grey cast member Victor Rasuk thinks it will “suck” that Sam Taylor-Johnson is not staying on to direct the sequels, but is nevertheless “excited” that somebody new is coming to take over behind the camera.
In the run-up to its release, a number of stories emerged from the set of disagreements between Taylor-Johnson and the book’s author E.L. James over the direction of the movie, and it was reported soon afterwards she would not return to direct the follow-ups despite the lucrative gains to be had.

It’s only been a couple of months since the first Fifty Shades of Grey movie hit cinemas, but we’ve already got a sneak peek at the second. The first teaser for Fifty Shades Darker debuts on the Blu-Ray edition of the first movie, which is being released on May 8th.
The 30-second clip features a suited-up Christian Grey dressing himself in a mirror and putting on a creepy masquerade-style face mask, while the text flashing up on the screen reads ‘Are You Ready For Something Darker?’

The Northern Irish hunk had one choice word to say about the rumours his wife wasn’t letting him do any more 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' movies.
Ever since Fifty Shades Of Grey hit cinemas on Valentines Day the film and its cast and crew have the subject of rumours concerning who is and isn’t onboard for the planned sequels. But one star who’s no longer staying silent on the rumours is Christian Grey himself, Jamie Dornan, who described talk of his wife banning him from future Fifty Shades movies as ‘total bollocks’.
Jamie Dornan has spoken out over rumours his wife doesn't want him to return as Christian Grey
In an interview with the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye Dornan said, “The idea was that we honour the trilogy and do all three.” So then what about those rumours that his wife Amelia Warner wanting him to pull out of the steamy sequels?
The controversial film has already been banned in Indonesia, Malaysia and Kenya, and a refusal was also expected from the mainly conservative India.
Despite conquering box offices wherever it goes, it seems that Indian fans of E.L. James’ erotic novel won’t get the chance to enjoy the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey after the country’s government censors banned it.
According a report by Reuters, India’s Central Board of Film Certification decided that the film was unsuitable for theatrical release in the largely conservative country, a verdict that most onlookers had anticipated.
The Board’s chief executive Shravan Kumar has not stated the precise reasons why they have taken the decision to prevent the film from being screened, but said the distributor Universal Pictures would be allowed to appeal.

Rumours that the Irish hunk wouldn’t reprise his role as Christian Grey had sent fans into a frenzy on social media.
A representative for Jamie Dornan has denied reports that the actor has pulled out of any future Fifty Shades of Grey movies, after rumours circulated saying he’d ‘walked away’ from the burgeoning franchise.
Could Jamie really be leaving Christian Grey behind?
Speaking to E! News, a rep for Dornan tried to quash the rumours saying, ”All press reports are pure conjecture as the studio has not committed to a sequel as yet.”
Despite a huge dive in attendance numbers, the much talked-about movie stays at the top of the box offices for a second week.
Erotic blockbuster Fifty Shades of Grey held on to its spot at the top of the box office, despite seeing a massive drop in ticket sales. Receipts of $23.3 million were reported by the L.A. Times, down a whopping 73% from its first weekend.
A decline was of course expected, but the figure is at least 30% less than most projections for its second weekend. When it opened in time for the extended Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day weekend last Friday (February 13th), it took a mammoth $94.4 million.
With Sam Taylor-Johnson reportedly wanting out of directing the upcoming sequels, is author E.L. James set to write the screenplays?
Fifty Shades of Grey might be continuing its domination of the box office this weekend, but it seems that announcing the film’s sequels has become a much trickier business for studio Universal.
Earlier this week, The Sun reported that director Sam Taylor-Johnson had pulled out of doing any more Fifty Shades movies, due to her tempestuous relationship with the book's author E.L. James. But while reports of Taylor-Johnson’s departure remains unconfirmed, Variety now writes that the author is gearing up to pen the screenplay for sequel Fifty Shades Darker herself.
With the release of 'Fifty Shade of Grey' a week ago, the film has reached an incredible box-office total - and it isn't over yet.
After just a week on release, 'Fifty Shades of Grey' has already passed $100 million box office in the US and $300 million globally. It has claimed the title as the most successful R-rated film opening ever and it's Universal's best-ever opening in 30 territories. The movie is also one of the biggest grossing movies directed by a woman.
Ironically for a kinky romance, the film's $85 million opening in America claimed the record for a February release from Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ'. In the UK, 'Fifty Shades' had the biggest ever debut for an 18-certificate movie and the biggest for a film that isn't a sequel or part of a franchise.

What do Glasgow and Orlando have in common? Badly behaved cinema goers!
Cinema goers around the world have been behaving badly at showings of Fifty Shades of Grey. But it has nothing to do with fooling around on the back row! In Glasgow, three women were arrested after they assaulted a man during a screening on Saturday (14th February). The victim reportedly asked the rowdy women to be quiet during the film and in response they assaulted him. There were some reports a glass bottle was used to attack the unnamed man but the cinema denies an implement was used, according to reports in Vanity Fair. The three women in question were escorted from the cinema by police and have allegedly been charged with disorder offences.

'Fifty Shades of Grey' is causing chaos across the UK. Sort of.
Three women were arrested at Glasgow's Grosvenor Cinema after a screening of Fifty Shades of Grey ended in chaos. Witnesses claim that a man was attacked after asking three "worse for the wear" women to quieten down during the Valentine's Day viewing of the new movie.

With the success of "Fifty Shades", a couple of familiar issues have resurfaced.
Fifty Shades of Grey is currently dominating the North American box office, raking in $81.7 million domestically and $239.7 million globally. Not bad for a film based on glorified Twilight fanfic, right? The movie, which centers around the shy and inexperienced college senior Anastacia Steele and her domineering love interest Christian Grey, went on to break a few records this weekend, including the highest gross for a Presidents' Day weekend opener and the biggest debut for an R-rated flick.
Fifty Shades of Creepy?
Meanwhile, all over the blogosphere, people are raging against the unhealthy relationship patterns that E. L. James' story ostensibly promotes.
Happy Valentine's Day, love birds. Here's the movie situation.
Happy Valentine's Day weekend. Fifty Shades of Grey made $81,7 million. Clearly, despite the fact that noone will admit to having seen the thing, it's enjoying a stellar debut. Because what better way to spend the holiday than to watch a movie about whips, chains and contractually binding relationships with your sweetheart, right?
Apparently Fifty Shades has tapped into some deep-seeded desires in its audience. Or it's just really good marketing.
Fifty Shades, getting a boost from a Valentine's Day opening, was released earlier in the week in 57 foreign markets. It took in an additional $158 million overseas, for a global total of $240 million. It also got a boost from early Thursday night screenings, which made $8,6 million.
