James & Bobby Purify singer Robert Dickey has died, aged 72.
The R&B star, who was part of the singing duo famous for 1966 hit I'm Your Puppet, passed away in his hometown of Tallahassee, Florida on 29 December (11), according to a representative from a local funeral home.
DICkey rose to fame in the 1960s touring with soul and blues singers including Otis Redding, before going on to form the group with his cousin, James Lee Purify.
Known by the moniker Bobby Purify on stage, DICkey and his cousin had hits with I'm Your Puppet and a cover of Shake Your Tail Feather during the 1960s.
He gave up his music career in 1972 when he started to suffer health problems, but DICkey continued to perform with his local church as a member of the Bethlehem Male Singers.
No cause of death was known as WENN went to press.
