The former 'N Sync star reveals he was being lined up to play an exaggerated version of himself on the comedy show, but ended up getting dropped in favour of former Dawson's Creek actor Van Der Beek.
He tells U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight, "James Van Der Beek's role in Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, that was written for me.
"I was the original guy. I did the (screen) test for that and all the table reads for that, and then James Van Der Beek said, 'Hey, I wanna do Tv again' and stole my job!"
The shortlived show, which also starred Krysten Ritter, was scrapped from America's ABC network last year (13) in the midst of its second season due to low viewing figures.
