Back to the Future Part III (1990) - Clips

When Dr. Emmett Brown gets trapped in a Western world in 1885, it's up to Marty to rescue him when he learns of his untimely death. It isn't long before he runs into Biff's ancestor Buford, however, who doesn't exactly make it easy for the pair to get home. Plus, the DeLorean is out of gas which means they can't accelerate to the required speed anyway to travel forward in time. They have an idea, though, involving the use of a rail spur and a train to push them to the right speed, but before they can implement the plan Buford attempts to force Marty into a duel. And after Doc has fallen in love with a beautiful 19th century lady named Clara and been subsequently dumped after revealing his true origin, he's not in the best of moods to help them finally get home either.

Back to the Future Part II (1989) - Clips

Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown re-unite for more adventures, but this time Doc is looking to the future rather than the past. He encourages both Marty and his girlfriend Jennifer to accompany him to 2015 and help out their future children. However, things take a shaky turn when Marty decides to buy a sports almanac in a bid to get rich through betting. Unfortunately, their journey to the future has been witnessed by Biff, who manages to steal the almanac and give it to his 1955 self. When Marty and Doc return to a dystopian 1985 they most certainly don't recognise, they are forced to go back to the past to rectify the situation - and prevent Biff from ruining their futures.

Top Gun Trailer

Maverick is a reckless but extremely skilled fighter pilot whose father died after his plane was shot down in the Vietnam War. Because of his talent, he is asked to attend the Top Gun school with co-pilot Goose. It is there he competes to be the top student on the program while simultaneously attempting to woo his chief instructor Charlie Blackwood who, although appearing critical at first, secretly admires his flying methods. His journey to become the greatest pilot in the world is tarnished with tragedy and the frustration that rumours of his father dying due to his own errors could be true.

This classic romantic drama flick will soon be available to own on Blu-Ray from February 19th 2013. The movie was based on the California magazine article 'Top Guns' by Ehud Yonay and directed by Tony Scott ('Beverly Hills Cop II', 'Enemy of the State', 'Domino') in 1986 with writing credits to Jim Cash and Jack Epps Jr. ('Dick Tracy', 'Anaconda'). It won an Oscar and a Golden Globe on its release as well as a Brit award for Best Soundtrack. 'Top Gun' will appear in 3D cinemas for six days only between February 8th and 13th 2013.

Back To The Future Part III Review

Very Good
Ah, this is the one you see on cable TV all the time. I'm not sure why, but I suppose it's because Back to the Future Part III holds up on its own as well as the original and much better than Part II, which kind of abruptly ends in the middle of the story. This is the old west part of the tale, which begins when Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) is inadvertently sucked back to 1885, and through a convolution of events, Marty (Michael J. Fox) heads back there as well to save Doc's life. Eventually there's another problem preventing the duo from returning to 1985: There's no gasoline for the Delorean in 1885 and they can't get the car up to the required 88 miles per hour. Whoops. Overall this is a good time, but the steampunk adventure doesn't thrill us quite as much as the original, which features a very similar arc. By now, old Biff (here as "Buford") has worn thin and comes off as primarily an excuse to add more conflict, and Mary Steenburgen's abrupt love interest is a no-show.

Back To The Future Part II Review

Excellent
Back to the Future takes a darker turn with this first of two sequels (which were shot together, perhaps for the first time in film history that more than one film was made simultaneously for a staggered release), in which the relatively quaint and simple time travel arc from BTTF gets far more confusing and, in some ways, more fulfilling. The setup from the first film -- Marty's son is in trouble in 2015 -- turns out to be a MacGuffin and of little consequence. The real point is to get Marty into the future and to get a now aged Biff into the Delorean and back to 1955, where he gives his younger self a sports almanac that lets him instantly become a millionaire through sports betting. This sends Marty back again to 1955, where he has to get the almanac away from Biff while avoiding his other self, who's busy dealing with mom and dad. Time travel starts to get a little mindbending here, and along with its convolutions and ominous tone (Hill Valley is now a dangerous slum), it's not nearly as popular as parts 1 and 3. Still, it's a good film and rewards an attentive viewer with tons of inside jokes and kooky predictions about the future (look at how many fax machines everyone was supposed to have!).

Top Gun Review

Very Good
Anyone fondly remembering Top Gun as a prototypical action-packed Jerry Bruckheimer 'nad-fest probably hasn't seen it in awhile. Newly released as a mega-deluxe DVD, it's time to remember what Top Gun really is: From "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" to "Take My Breath Away," it's mushy love story first, fighter-pilots-in-training movie second.

Ironically, the early 1990s would bring to light the fact that carousing was what naval pilots seemed to do best: The 1986 Tailhook scandal occured during the same year Top Gun was released.
