Scottish actor James McAvoy once dreamed of becoming a missionary for the Catholic Church - because he wanted to travel the globe. The Atonement star admits he considered the idea briefly during his youth, but soon gave it up because he was wracked with guilt. He says, "I wanted to be a missionary but only because I wanted a free ticket to go and explore the world. "I realised I was using God and religion to get my kicks so I knocked that on the head (ruled that out). I suppose I'm still spiritual but not in a Catholic way any more."
