A bronze statue of veteran actor James Garner was unveiled in his hometown of Norman, Oklahoma, on Friday (21APR06). The 77-year-old ROCKFORD FILES star, who attended the unveiling ceremony with his wife LOIS and their two daughters, already has a street and a corner of the Main Street named after him. He told local citizens in the town of Norman how he used to watch films at the Sooner Theater but never imagined he would one day appear there himself. He said, "That was the silver screen. I thought it was far beyond my reach." Garner began acting in the 1950s and has appeared in over 100 films including The Great Escape, VICTOR/VICTORIA and SPACE COWBOYS.
