Actor James Franco has signed up to star in another TV soap, following his stint on General Hospital.
The Milk star is joining the cast of Hollywood Heights, about a shy girl who is transformed into a pop star after she wins a songwriting competition. She then befriends a major rock star who is also her celebrity crush.
Hollywood Heights will premiere on U.S. network Nick at Nite in June (12) and will air five nights a week. Franco's role has not yet been announced.
The actor stunned fans by taking on the part of a serial killer on General Hospital in 2009, and has since revived his villainous character for more episodes. He recently debuted an experimental thriller, Francophrenia, which he shot while on the set of the long-running show.
