Actor James Denton is feeling "melancholy" about the end of Desperate Housewives, as he is convinced TV bosses could have developed the show further.
Executive producers told the cast in August (11) that the hit drama's eighth season will be its last, and the series is currently airing in the U.S.
Actresses Felicity Huffman and Brenda Strong have spoken of their sadness at the end of the longrunning drama, and Denton, who has played Mike Delfino on the show since its debut in 2004, is equally upset.
He tells ET Online, "It's hard to be anything but grateful. But at the same time, it's a little melancholy. I'm really close to this cast and this crew. Plus, the ratings have held up and the show is so huge internationally - I just was in France and they're broken-hearted over there about the show going off the air.
"I understand the network's position on it, but I think we could have gotten a little more out of the show."
