James Corden launched a personally-driven campaign to bring back boybands, inviting ‘90s pop heroes Backstreet Boys to perform in the studio with him on ‘The Late Late Show’.

“I care about this more than maybe anything else on the planet: we are bringing back boy bands,” Corden told the audience on Tuesday night’s edition of his CBS show (September 27th), before bringing out the Backstreet Boys to perform their signature 1997 hit ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’. Joining their line-up as a sixth member, Corden moved along surprisingly well with the choreography, as you can see in the video below!

The reformed band made the appearance in order to promote their 18-date trial residency ‘Larger Than Life’ at the AXIX in the Planet Hollywood resort and casino in Las Vegas, which begins in March 2017.

“I'm talking proper boy bands. Five guys together — I'm talking about the cute one, the funny one, the nice one, the other one and the maverick who refused to play by the rules. All living together in some weird mansion in Orlando.”

“I’m aware that boy bands haven’t gone away, right?” Corden said before making the introduction. “But now, they just stand onstage wearing skinny jeans and Vans sneakers – and some of them even have the audacity to pick up instruments. That is not what I want in a boy band. I want matching outfits, synchronized dancing and way-over-budget music videos.”

The Backstreet Boys are the most successful boyband of all time, selling over 130 million records worldwide since their formation way back in 1993.

As for Corden, his first 18 months at the helm of ‘The Late Late Show’ have been enormously successful. In addition to being personally popular among Americans, the British presenter and his executive producer Ben Winston have transformed two segments of the show – ‘Drop the Mic’ and ‘Carpool Karaoke’ – into TV shows in their own right.
