British actor James Corden is convinced he will only last six months as the host of America's The Late Late Show.

The Into The Woods star is taking over from Craig Ferguson as presenter of the Tv favourite next month (Mar15) and he fears his tenure on the show could be short-lived.

He tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "I'm well aware there is every chance it's going to start, no one is going to like it, and it isn't going to work. That's completely possible, maybe even probable, and that it's cancelled within six months.

"This isn't false humility - these shows take time. They're never perfect straight off the bat because they rely on familiarity. It's going to be a bumpy ride, and we're going to be tested in so many ways. It's a brand-new show hosted by an unknown quantity, to an audience that I don't know. If the show fails, it doesn't mean I'm suddenly bad or awful. It's an adventure and if it doesn't work, I'll go home and carry on."

Since Ferguson left the show in December (14), an array of star guests have taken over hosting duties, including singer John Mayer, moviemaker Judd Apatow and actor Will Arnett.
