Rumours are rife of James Corden’s appointment as the new host of the CBS chat programme, The Late Late Show. Reports have suggested that Corden is taking over the slot from current host, Craig Ferguson, although representatives for the British comedy actor and CBS have yet to confirm the situation.

Already a big hit in the UK from Gavin and Stacey, Americans seem as yet unsure about the potential new face on their screens as they know little about him. So, to help our stateside counterparts and to give us Brits a little bit more information about this comedy favourite, here are 10 things that you didn’t know about James Corden.
1. His middle name is Kimberly, something that he tried to deny as a youngster and instead insisted was Karl. Apparently a traditional name for the men in his family, Corden said: "Literally every man in my family has it."
2. His three-year-old son is called Max McCartney Kimberly Corden: Kimberly in line with the male family name and McCartney after Sir Paul - a moniker that Corden persuaded the Beatles star with in order to get him to appear in a Comic Relief sketch in 2011.
3. He used to date Sheridan Smith until 2009, who played his sister in the hit comedy Gavin and Stacey.
4. Corden won a Royal Television Society (RTS) award for Best Newcomer following his performance in the Yorkshire-based drama, Fat Friends. It also starred Ruth Jones, Sheridan Smith and Alison Steadman all of whom, along with Corden himself, went on to star in Gavin and Stacey.
