Filmmaker James Cameron has reportedly cancelled his upcoming appearance at the Deauville Film Festival in France.

The Avatar director was set to be honoured with the 40th Anniversary Award and present his new film, Deepsea Challenge 3D, at the event in September (14), but he has dropped out of appearing at the ceremony due to undisclosed reasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Deauville Film Festival will kick-off on 5 September (14) and run until 14 September (14).

Will Ferrell, Jessica Chastain and Ray Liotta will also be honoured at the French festival. Organisers are also planning a special tribute to the late Robin Williams.
