Fictional superspy James Bond faces losing his sex appeal in the next 007 installment - when he's threatened with castration.

The fictional secret agent - famed for his lothario reputation - undergoes prolonged torture at the hands of cruel Russian KGB agents in the upcoming 21st Bond movie, Casino Royale.

And his worst fears are realised when the mean captors wave a blade menacingly at his penis.

Director Martin Campbell has vowed to make the scene as terrifying as the teeth-drilling torture sequence in 1976 Dustin Hoffman film Marathon Man, sparking speculation he's vying to produce a darker Bond movie.

Casino Royale - based on IAN FLEMING's book - was originally made as a spoof in 1967 with legendary comic star David Niven in the lead.
