A specially-made Aston Martin sports car from the recent James Bond movie Spectre has sold at a charity auction for just under £2.5 million.

The DB10 model, one of only two “show cars” from 10 that were custom-made for the blockbuster, easily made its reserve price of £1 million and eventually sold for £2,434,500 at a special charity auction at Christie’s London King Street on Thursday.

Manufactured in Warwickshire, eight of the ten cars were used to film the car chase scene through the streets of Rome in Spectre, while two were left untouched for display and promotional purpose.

The movie was reported to have wrecked £25 million worth of cars during filming. The car can achieve a top speed of 190mph with a 4.7-litre V8 engine – but it cannot actually be driven on public roads!

‘Spectre – The Auction’ has so far seen 10 lots raise just over £2.8 million for various charities, with 14 more items continuing to be sold in an online auction that ends next Tuesday (February 23rd).

Other items that went on sale included a ‘Day of the Dead’ costume worn by Daniel Craig in the opening scene, which fetched £98,500. Sam Smith’s theme tune ‘Writing’s On the Wall’, both record and sheet music, went for a combined £9,375.

An Omega Seamaster watch worn by Bond sold for £92,500, while Franz Oberhauser’s gold ring with the ‘Spectre’ logo on it, worn by Christoph Waltz, fetched £32,500.

Spectre smashed all manner of box office records upon its release back in October 2015, taking $143.1 million (just under £100 million) in Britain. It isn’t yet known whether Daniel Craig will return to play James Bond for a fifth time, though it is definitely the final time Sam Mendes will direct.
