More than 10% of the $200 million budget for the new James Bond movie Spectre was apparently spent on wrecked supercars, according to a new report.

The Mail on Sunday published a report at the weekend that suggested that £24 million of sports cars, including seven specially designed Aston Martin DB10s and a Jaguar C-X75, with customised ejector seats a la Goldfinger, were destroyed during the filming of chase sequences for the brand new movie, out next month.

‘Homeland’ actor Damian Lewis looks set to be the one to take over the role of James Bond when Daniel Craig steps down as 007. According to the Sunday Mirror, Lewis has been given ‘an unofficial nod’ that he is producer's first choice, if Craig decides Spectre will be his last Bond outing.

Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan reckons that the next star to play 007 will be a white male. For months now, the rumour has been that ‘Luther’ actor Idris Elba would be the next actor cast as the suave British spy, but Brosnan doesn’t believe that the producers will be making that move yet.

“Anything is possible for sure, but I think he'll be male and he'll be white,” he told The Press Association in an interview on Wednesday (September 23rd). However, the 62 year old Irish star did add that “there's wonderful black actors out there who could be James Bond, and there's no reason why you cannot have a black James Bond.”

Speaking to Sky News, the 37 year old English actor didn’t say whether or not he’d actually been approached for the part. However, when asked by the interviewer, the high-profile star replied: “I think anybody would consider doing Bond, wouldn't they?”

Ahead of his fourth turn as James Bond in Spectre later this year, Daniel Craig has spoken about performing his own stunts and how he copes with the international stardom he now enjoys.

The 47 year old actor, who has found global fame with his three well-received performances as 007, was speaking to DuJour magazine that he still sometimes struggles with the public attention that his position has brought over the last ten years.

“Bars are hard, but that’s more because of mobile phones,” Craig admitted. What annoys him most is that he wishes people would simply approach him and ask for photographs, instead of surreptitiously snapping away from a distance.

“Sure. Why not?” he said to Details magazine about whether such a script might be possible, before adding, “Actually, I don't know how it would work. I don't think Barbara [Broccoli, Bond producer] would allow a gay Bond to happen in her lifetime. But it would certainly make for interesting viewing.”

English actor David Oyelowo has been selected to play James Bond – in an audiobook version of a brand new 007 novel penned by Anthony Horowitz. The book, titled ‘Trigger Mortis’, has been commissioned by the Ian Fleming estate and will be released on September 8th.

The Guardian reported on Thursday (August 13th) that the 39 year old was “very honoured” to be offered the role by the Fleming estate itself, describing it as “really special”. Oyelowo has some form in playing security service agents, portraying MI5 officer Danny Hunter in the BBC spy drama ‘Spooks’.

Italian environmental campaigners have thanked James Bond for forcing Rome’s city officials to clean up its streets in preparation for shooting scenes for the upcoming movie Spectre.

Production crews have been in the Italian capital working on the 24th instalment of the Bond franchise since the middle of February. On arrival, however, there were rumours that the shoot was in jeopardy because of the dirty conditions at the planned filming locations.

Anticipation is building for the 24th instalment of the James Bond franchise when Spectre is released next year, but the series might be radically overhauled in the future as it’s been revealed that Idris Elba has been informally suggested as the next Bond.

According to the Daily Beast, interpreting information gained as a result of the recent Sony hack, the co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertaiment Amy Pascal said “Idris should be the next bond” in an e-mail back in January this year to Columbia’s former executive vice president of production Elizabeth Cantillon.

Denzel Washington has clarified his comments about playing James Bond after Daniel Craig relinquishes the role in a couple of years' time. The Training Day actor had joked that he was starting a campaign to have him considered for the role though insists his remarks were just that - a joke.

He told Shortlist magazine: "I was on the phone, and the person on the phone was asking me the questions that were being sent in to her, and so then she was sending out my response to whoever's online. So the was question was, 'Would You play James Bond?' and I said, 'Yeah sure, why not?' and jokingly, 'Yeah, get out there and start a campaign! Denzel for James Bond!"

Stunning Location For 'Skyfall' Now Blighted With Fly-Tipping

Glen Etive in Lochaber, the stunning location used in the James Bond movie Skyfall, is now a hot spot for the dumping of rubbish. A campaign has started to combat the littering, which has seen mattresses and tents left discarded in recent weeks.

Local residents Phillipa and Mark Shone have been publishing images of the littering on their Facebook page - Glen Etive - the Dirty Truth on Facebook.
