Run-D.M.C.'s comeback show was a ''big family reunion.''
The legendary rap group took to the stage for the first time since the murder of founding member Jam Master Jay in 2002 over the weekend, with the late DJ's place filled by his sons, Jason 'Jam Master J'Son' Mizell Jr. and T.J. 'Dasmatic' Mizell.
Speaking before their appearance, T.J. said: ''It was incredible. It's a big family reunion, including our father, because of course he's going to be there in spirit tonight.''
Jason added: ''The rehearsals were actually really funny. It was epic, unbelievable. I'm on Pluto. It was crazy. It was the first time we all got back together as a family, like Run and D and Jay's kids.''
The pair say they have long wanted to appear with MCs Joseph 'Run' Simmons and Darryl 'D.M.C.' McDaniels, but has taken them a long time to come around to the idea.
Jason told Rolling Stone magazine: ''I have for so long wanted to be on stage with Run and D. I've asked plenty of times. It took time, but it's happening now, and it couldn't happen at a better time.''
T.J. added: ''We got a phone call from Run and D and their manager saying, 'It's time.' They gave us a call, like, 'You ready? You're up to bat now.'''
The DJ duo also Hope the group could record new material in the future, with Jason saying: ''Definitely it's been discussed, but Hopefully it happens.''
Jam Master Jay - real name Jason Mizell - was shot and killed in a recording studio in 2002, supposedly over his taking rapper 50 Cent under his wing, despite him being blacklisted by a DRUGS gang, although nothing has been proven.
