The family of murdered hip-hop star Jam Master Jay will hold a series of events in January (05) to mark what would have been the RUN-DMC DJ'S 40th birthday.

Jay was brutally murdered inside his 24/7 studio in New York two years ago (OCT02), and now his relatives are trying to keep his name alive by holding a benefit concert and naming a street in his honour.

His brother MARVIN THOMPSON, says, "Jason was a major supporter of what everybody did. Around the holiday season, it's hard.

The family have set a date of 21 January for the benefit concert and are currently signing up artists.

They also want one of the roads in New York's Queens neighbourhood to be renamed JAM MASTER JAY WAY and have gathered signatures in support of the move to take to the city council.
