Vegan Jackass star Steve-O is set to be honoured by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) for his continued efforts championing animal rights.
The daredevil prankster adopted his strict diet in 2009 and has since appeared in numerous campaigns for the organisation to highlight animal cruelty around the world.
And his work has paid off - he will be feted with the Peta Activism Award at a special reception in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday (16Jul11).
Peta President Ingrid E. Newkirk says, "Steve-O may be a comedian, but to animals in trouble, he's a real champ. There's lots to laugh about in life, but animal abuse isn't funny, as Steve-O is quick to point out."
Steve-O adds, "Being a vegan, caring about animals… all of this compassion in my lifestyle is the reward in and of itself."
