The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has been surfing the celebrity world for some time now with famous faces all over the world taking the plunge in order to draw attention to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and encourage donations to its research. The latest stars to succumb to the cold water are Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, fashion designer Stella McCartney and supermodel Kate Moss, with the former two joining up together to complete their nomination.

Chris Martin
Singer Chris Martin is the latest in a long line of celebrities to take on the Ice Bucket Challenge in aid of ALS

Martin and McCartney were both nominated by the singer’s estranged wife, Gwyneth Paltrow and did not seem too keen to accept their selection at first.

Martin, holding a large umbrella, said: "We’ve been nominated to do the ice bucket challenge", to which McCartney replied: "I’m a fashion designer. I am not going to get wet."

The Magic hit-maker then moved his umbrella slightly while he explained that they just wouldn’t do it before the pair were doused with freezing cold water, poured over them by someone out of shot.

Supermodel Kate Moss, a long-time friend of designer Stella McCartney, chose to complete her nomination under the sunny skies of St Tropez after receiving a nod from fashion photographer, Mario Testino. With the help of a number of eager children, including her own daughter Lila Grace, she was drenched with six full Corona ice buckets full of freezing water.

The Ice Bucket Challenge has gone viral via social media in the past few weeks and has forced a number of famous faces to take an ice cold shower in aid of raising awareness and support of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease and Motor Neurone Disease, a condition that attacks the spinal cord.
