Jack Klugman's son has made it publicly known that he disagrees with the Emmy organizers honouring Glee star Cory Monteith and not his father.

Jack Klugman, who starred in the 1970's hits, 'The Odd Couple' and 'Quincey, M.E', died last December at the age of 90 years old and his son has spoken out against the Emmy organizers for placing his father into a 'In Memorium' reel that usually includes behind the scenes personnel and the lesser known actors who have passed away in the last year.

Adam Klugman has also spoken out about the extended memorial service for the late Glee star, Cory Monteith, who tragically died earlier this summer from alcohol and heroin poisoning.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Adam Klugman said in an interview "they're celebrating this self-inflicted tragedy instead of celebrating the life of my father, who won three Emmys.... Cory Monteith never won an Emmy."

He also added "to compare the contribution he made to the contribution my father made -- it doesn't compare."

This year the Emmy organizers are introducing a special tribute to five notable deceased actors/actresses. The five honourees are actors James Gandolfini and Jean Stapleton, as well as writer-producer Gary David Goldberg and comic legend Jonathan Winters.

In another interview with the Associated Press, the son of Jack Klugman said "[He] thinks it is criminal" that Monteith is receiving more of an honour than his father.

Emmy executive producer Ken Ehrlich, released a statement stating "Every generation of television viewers has its favourites, and when we decided to expand the 'In Memoriam' segment to remember certain individuals, we wanted these pieces to be representative as well. To a younger generation, Cory Monteith's portrayal of Finn Hudson was highly admired, and the producers felt that he should be included along with the four other individuals we have singled out."

It is a sensitive issue that people may be cautious to engage with but who is to say that Cory Monteith shouldn't be honoured at the Emmys, however there is also a lot of other deserving people and maybe Jack Klugman is one of them.

The 65th Primetime Annual Emmy Awards will be held on the 22nd of September 2013.
