Troubled rapper Ja Rule sorted out his finances before he went to prison to make sure his family would be taken care of during his time behind bars, according to his wife.
The hip-hop star surrendered himself to authorities earlier this month (Jun11) to begin serving a two-year prison sentence following his conviction on weapons possession charges stemming from a 2007 arrest.
Ja Rule - real name Jeffrey Atkins - is facing further time in prison and a hefty fine after pleading guilty to multi-million dollar tax evasion charges, but his wife Aisha is adamant the Always On Time hitmaker made sure his family won't suffer financially during his jail stint.
She tells Tmz.com, "Ja made sure... that me and my kids wouldn't need anything as far as income goes. He planned well before he went in. We won't be bad... even for a little bit - that was Ja's first priority as a man who makes sure family comes first."
