Inxs star Tim Farriss has undergone emergency surgery after losing a finger in a horrific boating accident.

The guitarist's left hand was mangled and his fourth finger was severed by an electric anchor winch while he was working on a boat in Sydney, Australia last month (Jan15).

After the accident on 24 January (15), Farriss was taken to a local hospital and underwent two operations in a bid to reattach his finger. The surgery was a success, but the musician faces months of physiotherapy amid fears he may never play the guitar again.

Inxs manager Chris Murphy tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "Tim is now home from the hospital with his family and undergoing physiotherapy as part of the recovery process. He is getting the best possible care and we hope with time he will regain movement in his finger. This was a terrible accident, we are all here to support him."
