The Hateful Eight Trailer

John Ruth earnt his nickname The Hangman for a good reason, he's one of the best bounty hunters of his generation and he's just caught himself a BIG prize, Daisy Domergue has a bounty of ten thousand dollars on her head and Ruth isn't going to share his reward with any other man he might meet on the road.

On their trip, the weather in Wyoming begins to turn and the bounty hunter and his trophy must leave the road and take shelter. They find themselves hauled up at Minnie's Haberdashery, a small stagecoah stopover. This trip just became all the more risky for Ruth as they're not the only dubious residents staying at the layover.

Knowning that the chatter will soon spread, each member of the boarding house are introduced to one another. There's the new sheriff Chris Mannix; Bob The Mexican who's looking after Minnie's Haberdashery whilst Minnie is busy; Oswaldo Mobray AKA The Little man; General Sanford Smithers, an aging confederate General; Joe Gage also known as The Cow-puncher and finally the mysterious Major Marquis Warren, an ex-soldier (for the Union) turned notable bounty hunter.

The Hateful Eight Trailer

John Ruth, known by his associates and like-minded peers as The Hangman on account of his fondness for hanging criminals, is a formidable bounty hunter on his way to Red Rock with a suspected murderer named Daisy Domergue. Along the way, they bump into another brutal bounty hunter named Major Marquis Warren who wastes no time in informing Daisy of her captor's uniquely vicious reputation, and they also pick up self-proclaimed new sheriff of Red Rock Chris Mannix. It's a bitter winter and soon a furious blizzard threatens to engulf them and their stagecoach. Thus, they decide to seek shelter at a small place on a mountain pass called Minnie's Haberdashery, which is currently playing host to caretaker Bob, Red Rock's own hangman Oswaldo Mobray, a ranch hand named Joe Gage and former Confederacy general Sandy Smithers. Unfortunately, the bounty hunters are not the only volatile ones at the haberdashery, and it seems some lethal mounting deception is threatening to bury them well before the storm.

Cory Monteith's final film McCanick is due to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9th. In one of his final roles, Monteith plays Simon Weeks a drug addict and recently released prisoner. According to reports by MTV, Weeks is suspected of a murder he committed whilst in his teens, he is tracked down by two detectives: Eugene 'Mack' McCanick (David Morse) and Floyd Intrator (Mike Vogel).

The trailer suggests Monteith's character is likely innocent of the suspected crime. One character warns the irritable McCanick "he's done bad things but he is not a killer", whilst the detective retorts "you don't know him as well as you think." This could be a red herring in itself, but we shall have to wait and see!

Oblivion Review

Very Good

With elements lifted from virtually every sci-fi classic in film history, this post-apocalyptic adventure feels eerily familiar but features just enough plot twists and emotional resonance to make it enjoyable. Director Kozinski (Tron Legacy) also makes sure it looks amazing, with cool-looking sets and gadgets and an entertaining use of destroyed New York and Washington landmarks.

It also gives Cruise a slightly more internalised character than he usually plays in big blockbusters. He's Jack, a repairman 60 years after aliens blasted the moon to bits, causing earthquakes and tidal waves. Now it's 2077 and the remnant of humanity is being evacuated to Saturn's moon Titan, while mop-up teams help protect giant resource-gathering machines from alien scavengers. Jack works Sector 49 with his partner Victoria (Riseborough), but has vivid, impossible dreams of a life on pre-war Earth with a mysterious woman (Kurylenko). When she suddenly turns up in an ancient spacepod, and Jack discovers a scrappy group of human survivors led by Beech (Freeman), he begins to wonder what's really happening here.

And so do we, since we have begun doubting the entire set-up from Jack's opening narration. Mission commander Sally (Leo) looks very shifty indeed, and there's something vaguely fishy about all of the sleek glass, steel and plastic technology. As Jack's gleaming white leather outfit becomes increasingly murky, so does his simplistic view of his own life. And Cruise holds the film together nicely with an introspective turn as a man who's just enigmatic enough to engage our interest. Riseborough and Kurylenko, meanwhile, get much juicier roles, providing strongly emotional layers to the story. And Freeman and Leo add a bit of class.

The Baytown Outlaws Trailer

Brick, McQueen and Lincoln Oodie are three trigger-happy redneck brothers who work for a corrupt sheriff of their town, taking down criminals in unlawful ways. After accidentally taking out the residents at an address that turns out to be wrong, they are offered $25,000 by Celeste Martin who asks them to retrieve her kidnapped handicapped godson Rob from her violent ex-husband Carlos who believes she is dead. He killed Rob's parents and had Celeste shot when he discovered he had a large sum of money in a trust that matured when he hit 18. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters Trailer

Fifteen years later, Hansel and Gretel are still suffering from the traumatic effects of a horrific ordeal they experienced when they were children when a wicked witch tried to make a meal of them after tempting them with her house in the forest made of gingerbread. After successfully slaying the evil creature, they became witch hunters; bounty hunters of the fairy tale world, constructing various brutal ways of trapping and exterminating the monsters that threatened villages around the world with the added benefit that malevolent curses and spells had little effect on them. One day, the Mayor of Augsburg, recognising their widespread notoriety and expertise, enlists the brother and sister duo to end the torment that is infecting one town and its surrounding forests at the hands of the sorceress Muriel who is kidnapping children with the intention of sacrificing them for the forthcoming Blood Moon. It seems Hansel and Gretel have finally met their match and, if that wasn't bad enough, the ruthless Sheriff Berringer has decided that he will embark on his own kind of witch hunt, endangering half the women in the town.

Grindhouse Review

Excellent
Longtime buddies Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez have worked together before (Four Rooms, Sin City), but this takes it to the next level. Grindhouse is their shared B-movie fantasy: a three-hour, bare-knuckled double feature epic, an unapologetic celebration of '70s-era hardcore schlock that's authentic, witty beyond expectation, and unerringly crowd-pleasing.

In a recent TV interview, Tarantino said he and Rodriguez had always wished those low-budget flicks were as good as their posters -- and they set out to achieve that, decades after the movies' heyday. With an obvious passion for the genre, the pair has recreated the experience of being at some cheap Texas drive-in with two features, fake coming attractions, missing reels, local ads, and announcements from theater management. Even if you don't catch on to everything, just watching the package is a complete thrill.
