Trapt Biography

Trapt, a rock band, formed in 1997 with Chris Brown on vocals, Simon Ormandy playing guitar, Peter Charell on bass, and David Stege playing the drums. Shortly after, they recorded two albums (Amalgamation and Glimpse) to sell when they played at local venues. The band received a great response, and a buzz started to grow.

The band proceeded to sign with Warner Bros. Records and started recording their debut album, with the help of Robin Diaz replacing Stege on the drums (Diaz was eventually replaced by their current drummer, Aaron Montgomery), they also moved to Vancouver to base their recording operations. On November 22, 2002 the band released the self-titled Trapt which produced a total of three singles. "Headstrong" was the first, and it reached #1 on both the US Modern Rock and Us Mainstream Rock charts, as well as #16 on the US Hot 100, marking their most successful single to date, and becoming the theme song for WWE Bad Blood during June 2003. The second single from the album, "Still Frame", also managed to achieve #1 spot on the US Mainstream Rock chart, and a respectable #3 on the US Modern Rock chart. The third single, "Echo" (whose video had an appearance from Michelle Trachtenberg) peaked at #10 on the US Modern Rock chart. The Trapt album was certified as platinum status by the RIAA.

The single "Still Frame" was featured on the Xbox video game Project Gotham Racing 2.

The next release by the band after their debut album was a three-track EP (released March 30, 2004) that included live versions of the "Made Of Glass" and "Echo" tracks, as well as a previously unheard track called "Promise".

Their second full length album titled "Someone In Control", was released September 13, 2005. It produced three singles for the band, "Stand Up", "Waiting" , "Disconnected (Out Of Touch)". While the singles didn't do as well as the ones released from the first album, "Stand Up" still reached # 3 on the US Mainstream Rock chart.

In early 2006, Trapt toured the US with Nickelback, Chevelle and Three Days Grace.

Their live album titled Trapt Live!, was released September 18, 2007. The album features two new studio songs ("Stay Alive" and "Everything to Lose") as well as live versions of nine songs from their earlier records. New singles "Stay Alive" and "Everything To Lose" are now on their MySpace page.

On March 7th, 2008, it was announced that lead guitarist Simon Ormandy had parted ways from the band. He was soon replaced by Robb Torres.

On March 8th, 2008, Trapt released "Who's Going Home with You Tonight?" on the band's website, a song from their upcoming studio album entitled "Only Through the Pain". The band also posted 4 other songs from this upcoming album, "Black Rose", "Contagious", "Wasteland", and "Ready When You Are".

On April 15, 2008, Trapt announced they would be touring as part of Motley Crue's Crue Fest, along with Papa Roach, Buckcherry and Sixx:A.M.. The tour is set to begin July 1 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

On June 10th, 2008, Trapt released "Who's Going Home With You Tonight?" as a single. They also recorded a music video for the song. The song is now avaliable on iTunes.
