Superman
Superman Biography
Superman is one of the world's most famous fictional characters. He first made an appearance back in 1938 in DC comics after being previously rejected by a number of publishers. The character was originally created by American writer Jerry Siegel and Canadian artist Joe Shuster.
Superman is the sole survivor of his planet Krypton, his parents launched him towards earth in a gestation pod after they realized that their own planet was about to die. His pod reached earth where it was found by the Kent family who raised him in the town of Smallville, Kansas as a human child and gave him the name Clark.
As Clark grew he began to notice that he had Super powers and he also discovered the truth about his origins from his parents. As Clark grew into a man his Super powers became very strong and he began using them to selflessly help people in danger. As a young man he took a job at the Daily Planet newspaper in Metropolis where he met the love of his life, fellow reporter Lois Lane.
A famous fraise coined to explain Superman's powers goes; ", Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound"
The rest of the Superman story is well documented in almost every type of media and his character has most certainly stood the test of time. Many books and films have featured this flying embodiment of American morals and as he approaches his 100th birthday there is no sign of the legend weakening or loosing its relevance.
