Shack
Shack Biography
Formed in 1986 by Brothers Mick and John Head, Shack emerged from the ashes of the Pale Fountains. Having had their fingers burnt by the major records industry - Pale Fountains reached number 46 in the UK charts with Thank You, but were generally misunderstood by their employers - Shack joined up with independent record label Ghetto. Experts at the cleverly understated melodic guitar pop song, 1988 saw the release of their acclaimed debut album Zilch. Yet instead of persevering with their commercial instincts, Shack laid low until reappearing with a single in 1991 and a planned second album for the year after, which was finally issued in 1995. Much of what Shack were doing in 1990 can be heard in the current wave of mid-90s guitar-based indie bands. It is hoped they will be both credited and remembered for their originality.
