Sarah Jessica Parker Biography
Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah Jessica Parker (born March 25th, 1965) is an American actress and producer, with a portfolio of television, film and theatre performances. She is best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw, on the hit TV show Sex and the City.
Performing Career
As a young girl, Sarah Jessica Parker trained in singing and ballet, soon being cast in the Broadway production of The Innocents.
She and four siblings appeared in a revival of The Sound of Music, and Parker went on to the new Broadway musical Annie - first in the small role of "July" and then in the lead role, playing the role for a year.
In 1982, Sarah Jessica Parker was cast as the co-lead of the sitcom Square Pegs. The show lasted only one season before being cancelled, but Parker's performance was critically well-received. In the three years that followed, she was cast in four films - the most significant of those being Footloose in 1984 and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, co-starring Helen Hunt, in 1985.
In 1986, Parker appeared in the cult classic Flight of the Navigator, a Disney science fiction film.
By the early 1990s, Parker's career was gaining momentum. She appeared in L.A. Story, Honeymoon in Vegas, co-starring Nicolas Cage, Hocus Pocus and opposite Johnny Depp in the critically acclaimed movie Ed Wood.
Before the year 2000, Sarah Jessica Parker would later go on to feature in Miami Rhapsody, Mars Attacks!, The First Wives Club, The Substance of Fire and Til There Was You.
Sex and the City
In 1998, Sarah Jessica Parker landed a role on the TV show which would become an instant hit, seeing her profile soar overnight.
In 2004, Parker won an Emmy award for her lead role as Carrie Bradshaw (after five consecutive losses).
After Sex and the City ended in 2004, many thought rumours of a film would never leave fan sites and gossip columns, but in 2008, the film would be released and a sequel is potentially in the works.
Personal life
Parker was romantically involved with actor Robert Downey Jr. from 1984 until 1991. They met on the set of Firstborn.
On May 19th, 1997, she married actor Matthew Broderick.
The couple's first child, son James Wilkie Broderick, was born on October 28th, 2002. He was named after Broderick's father, the actor James Broderick. His middle name is that of author Wilkie Collins, an author Broderick and Parker admire.
E! News confirms that prior to her appearance at the 2008 Major League Baseball All-Star, she had her signature mole removed. Regardless of photographic evidence, she denied it had been removed.
