Plan B was never likely to be pigeonholed as just a straight-up rapper. Arriving in 2006 armed with little more than a sharp biro, an acoustic guitar and a deft ability to turn bitingly brutal narratives into hooky pop tracks, his was an entirely new twist on the art form. Take No Good or Dead and Buried for example. Compelling, raw but totally accessible and unlike anything else you will have heard all year, sonically snapping back the necks of his contemporaries became second nature.
